The PDP-11.ORG.RU project first saw the light at the end of September 2001. The main goal of the project is the collection and classification of available information on PDP-11, operating systems and other software written for this architecture. We hope that our efforts will not be in vain and may be of use.
During several decades large industrial enterprises in the area of automatization, energy, machine tools, telecommunications and many others incorporated solutions based on the PDP-11 architecture. Regardless of the rapid development of computer technology in recent years, the stability of PDP-11 systems and their reliability in real-time applications has remained largely unsurpassed. As it was in the past, the majority of industrial enterprises continue to use the PDP-11. If you happen to come across a PDP-11 in your job, it may be that materials available on our website will be useful.
Even if you don't have anything to do with PDP-11 professionally, information available on the project's websites may be of interest to you. You can find here source codes for programs and operating systems once running on the PDP-11. Many solutions employed in contemporary software had their origins in the systems of those distant times. If you wish to run some of these and perhaps recall the good old times, when you yourselves were sitting in front of a green terminal screen, you have at your disposal a collection of emulators allowing you to run PDP-11 on today's hardware.
If you have a piece of hardware that you no longer need, please do not throw it away. Instead, get in touch with us. There's a possibility of purchase or exchange. If the hardware is still in use in your job, for example as a machine tool control, we can offer to migrate the system to the PC (preserving the original software).
If you have any sort of materials related to the PDP-11 (documentation, books, programs), that you're willing to share with others, get in touch with us and we will place them on our website. If you have any questions about PDP-11 itself or software running on it, feel free to ask - we will be happy to help.
